What will the scouts be doing


Scouts must be over 4ft 6^ and under 100kg to take part in a microlending experience and earn a unique badge from kent scouts.

Parascending
Where: Oxfordshire
Please book your Scout's place to go Parascending. The total cost for the 4 ascents and a couple of written tests to achieve the Parascending badge, including transport to and from the Scout Hut in Sheldon Avenue, is £89.


Scouts must bring a packed lunch and snacks to eat during the day.


The activity will take place on Saturday 11th May and will need to depart from the Scout Hut at approximately 7am, returning around 6:30pm - 7:00pm (we will notify you en route).


Eligibility Restrictions:


- This is only available to Scouts who are at least 10½ years old when flying (on 11th May 2024).

- All flyers should weigh AT LEAST 45 kg or 7 stone to fly, this restriction is imposed by the parachute manufacture and there for safety reasons.

Please make sure your Scout meets the minimum weight requirement!


 


Clothing and Boots:


- The activity requires that Scouts MUST WEAR BOOTS with ankle support e.g. DM’s or walking boots.

This will be held over the bank holiday.  The is still to be confirmed and will be approximately £90.


Please let us know if you think your  would like to attend.  This is not a firm commitment at this stage, but we will use your replies to book places providing we have enough adults.


The camp will be based on and international theme.


The district have also booked the following on site activities ip wire, cresta run, axe throwing, cave bus and inflatables and are looking to bring in Essex reptiles and the police .  The evening entertainment will include a silent disco, film and camp fire.


We hope that this will be a BIG camp and will require help from parents.


Parents wishing to camp over will require a DBS check and to do the online safety and safeguarding module.

Please note new date. The Gliding Organisation has moved this from Wednesday 2nd August to Thursday 3rd August.


Aerotow flight in a glider of 15-20 minutes per flight.

Pickup around 9pm

Where  224 Scout Hut and we will be travelling by mini bus.


 


We have managed to book a mid-week flight for 14 Scouts. The cost of £90 includes transport to and from the airfield from Scout Hut and the Gliding experience.


 


Restrictions: 


Please note there are height and weight restrictions


- Minimum height: 153 cm

- Maximum height: 193 cm

- Minimum weight: 42 kg

- Maximum weight: 100 kg

Kit: Please wear top half of uniform with scarf. Also bring a sunhat and a warm jacket as we will be out on the field the whole evening, so please Be Prepared!


Food: Please bring a packed dinner and a bottle of water (no fizzy drinks please or other 'messy' foods).

HMS Cavalier - Overnight Stay
Where: Chatham Historic Dockyard
When? Saturday 22nd June to Sunday 23rd June 2024


Logistics? Meet at the Scout Hut at 1:30pm (to be confirmed) to be at the dockyard for 4pm and a tour of the ship.


What? Overnight stay on HMS Cavalier, along with visits to the Historic Dockyard and other activities. The HMS Cavalier is the Royal Navy’s last remaining Second World War destroyer. Participants will have the opportunity to experience life on board at first hand, sleeping in real sailors’ bunks in two of the ship’s original Aft Mess Decks. Included in the experience is an exclusive tour of the ship and a programme of fun naval activities, led by two of

their team, providing a fascinating insight into the challenges of life at sea.


Food?  Dinner on Saturday evening, breakfast on Sunday morning and packed lunch Sunday are included in the price. It is essential that you make it clear if your child has any allergies or dietary requirements when booking.
