After attending Beaver meetings for a few weeks, members will make their Promises as part of an investiture ceremony.

The Scouting Promise is an easy-to-remember commitment to the core values of Scouting for young people and adults. It represents the pledge all members take upon joining, symbolizing their agreement to uphold and share these values. Every member needs to reflect on the meaning of the Promise and discuss it before committing and fully engaging in Scouting.

In the UK, various versions of the Promise exist to accommodate the diverse array of faiths, beliefs, attitudes, and nationalities within the Scouting community. These versions are tailored to suit the understanding levels of different age groups in the Movement. This inclusive approach underscores Scouting’s dedication to celebrating and comprehending diversity, including differences in beliefs and faiths, which is a crucial element of the educational and developmental goals of Scouting.

If you want your child to make a specific promise, please discuss it with the leader.
