Subs and Finance

In a 2010 national survey, 75% of parents said Scouting provided the best value for money compared to other extra-curricular activities like sports and martial arts groups, youth clubs and drama or music classes.

224 North London charges a Termly fee of £45

This helps cover the annual membership fee we pay to the Scout Association, insurance, the cost of weekly meetings, operating and maintaining the Group’s headquarters, and the group minibus.

The Group’s Board of Trustees has set this fee and has been at this amount for several years. In fact, during COVID and the cost-of-living crises, we reduced it. To keep the costs down, please ensure that you keep up to date with the subs via OSM and that payments are on time.

However, we believe that money should not be an obstacle to Scouting. If this is a problem, please let us know so we can try to help.

If £45 per term is a struggle, we can look at a Direct Debit of £11.25 per month.

Finally, please remember that all adults give their time voluntarily, which is how we can keep the termly fee so low compared to other after-school clubs.

Gift Aid

For parents who pay UK tax, we ask you to complete the Gift Aid declaration when you send it to OSM. Gift Aid helps us even more, at no extra cost to you, as it is worth an extra 25p for every £1 you pay. This means that your £45 becomes £56.36 per term

Once you have joined the Group, our administration system will email you and ask you to set up your direct debit instructions. All direct debits are covered by the Direct Debit Guarantee and processed by the merchant GoCardless. It costs nothing to use this system.
