We are delighted to announce that 224 North London Air Scouts will officially be launching our brand-new Squirrel Scout Drey on Saturday 12th September 2026.

This is an exciting milestone for our Scout Group and means we can now welcome children aged 4, giving them the opportunity to begin their Scouting adventure even earlier.

If your child is full of energy, enjoys making new friends, loves being creative or simply likes exploring the world around them, Squirrel Scouts is the perfect place to start.

What are Squirrel Scouts?

Squirrel Scouts is the youngest section of the Scout Movement and is designed specifically for children aged 4 to 6 years.

Every week is packed with exciting, age-appropriate activities that help young people develop confidence, independence and social skills while having lots of fun.

Sessions may include:

  • Outdoor adventures and nature activities.
  • Games and team challenges.
  • Arts and crafts.
  • Stories and imaginative play.
  • Science and discovery activities.
  • Simple cooking.
  • Celebrating local and national events.
  • Learning how to help others in the community.

Everything is designed around the Scouts’ aim of helping young people develop Skills for Life through fun, friendship and adventure.

When and Where?

Our very first Squirrel Scout meeting will take place on:

Saturday 12th September 2026

9:00 am – 10:00 am

224 North London Air Scouts
Sheldon Avenue
Highgate
London N6 4ND

The Drey will then continue meeting every Saturday morning immediately before our Beaver Colony, making it convenient for families with children in different sections.

Why Join 224 North London Air Scouts?

For many years, 224 North London Air Scouts has provided exciting opportunities for young people across Highgate, East Finchley and the surrounding areas.

We offer a welcoming and inclusive environment where children can:

  • Make new friends.
  • Build confidence.
  • Learn practical life skills.
  • Enjoy outdoor adventures.
  • Take part in creative activities.
  • Develop teamwork and communication skills.
  • Progress through Scouting from Squirrels to Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

Many lifelong friendships begin in Scouting, and we are looking forward to seeing our first Squirrels grow into the next generation of Beaver Scouts, Cubs and Scouts.

Free Taster Sessions

We know that starting something new can be a big step, so we invite every new member to attend a free taster session before deciding whether to join.

This gives children the chance to meet the leaders, make new friends and experience a typical meeting in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Places are expected to be popular, so we recommend registering your interest as early as possible.

We Also Welcome Volunteers

Like every Scout Group, our activities are made possible by fantastic volunteers.

You don’t need previous Scouting experience, and you certainly don’t need to have been a Scout yourself. Many of our volunteers are parents who simply wanted to help give local children amazing opportunities.

Whether you can help every week or just occasionally, we’d love to hear from you.
